An Australian natural perfume has just scooped its fourth award at the 2023 Clean + Conscious Awards.

The scent, called “Ember Haze”, is produced by Melbourne-based premium fragrance brand Váhy, which has only been in operation for three years.

This is the business’ 10th award overall. Ember Haze was awarded gold in the best natural perfume category.

Infused with smoky woods and the rich, luxurious warmth of amber and vanilla notes, Ember Haze is one of Váhy’s most popular scents and sold more than 5,000 units in July alone – that’s over one sold every 10 minutes.

For the past five years, the Clean + Conscious Awards have set the benchmark in recognising products that are clean, ethical, sustainable and socially responsible, all being brand priorities for Váhy from the outset.

Dedicated to in-depth research, each finalist’s product is carefully scrutinised and scientifically analysed before earning a nomination.

“We are proud to accept this award from Clean + Conscious. Our mission at Váhy since we launched three years ago is to create fragrances that are of the highest quality, smell amazing, and are good for both the wearer and the earth,” said Váhy co-founder Anna Weatherlake.

“From sourcing sustainable suppliers to ensuring every ingredient in our products are cruelty free and vegan, we’ve worked incredibly hard to develop our scents.”

“We are extremely grateful to receive recognition for the work our entire team is so dedicated to,” continued Váhy co-founder Kate Macdonald.

Váhy is committed to continual growth and development of its product range, with the brand launching its reformulated fragrance, Isle of Blanc, in partnership with world renowned perfumers earlier this month.

Ember Haze ($240), alongside other Váhy fragrances, is available for purchase via the Váhy website, The Iconic and other boutique retailers across Australia, Europe and the USA.

The brand itself was founded by lifelong friends Anna Weatherlake and Kate Macdonald who share a passion for clean living and exceptionally made products that are natural, cruelty-free and without compromise.

Kate’s work as a corporate lawyer resulted in her discovering a loophole in labelling laws, meaning perfumes did not need to disclose their ingredients in most jurisdictions.

Sharing this info with Anna, a local PETA ambassador, prompted the pair to search for a natural fragrance as sophisticated and long wearing as other modern scents.

Unable to find a product that met their criteria, Kate and Anna embarked on a long journey to create the perfect natural fragrance they felt did not yet exist on the market. After many years of scent development, leading them to work with one of the world’s best master perfumers, the Váhy range of 100 per cent natural, transparently-made products was born.

All Váhy products are formulated without synthetic fragrance, denatured alcohol, animal derived products, phthalates, parabens, SLS, SLES, EDTA, ALS, PEGs, polycyclic musks, MEA, DEA, TEA, formaldehyde, petrochemicals and oxybenzone.
